They will check everything from your desk, to the ceilings, and even ask you to roll up your sleeves. When you load up the test your webcam will connect to a proctor who will ask you to take your webcam and do a room scan. Take the test when you are home alone, anyone who walks in your room can lead to disqualification. That means the only thing on your desk should be a laptop, a glass of water is forbidden. They are very serious about taking the exam on a sanitized desktop. When you register for the exam Facebook will send you a list of instructions on how to prep your test environment- READ IT. When you take the exam you'll have to download a program that takes over your computer and your webcam must be on at all times so the online proctors can see you. Whereas the Google AdWords exam is a complete joke and easy to cheat on, Facebook has taken a different route and is making the test as "cheat-proof" as possible. I chose the online route because it was easier for me. Facebook allows you to take the exam online or in pre-approved testing center. I took both exams in one sitting and it took me about 3 hours to complete. Each exam costs $150, so you'll be expected to shell out $300 to become fully certified (prices are adjusted on less developed countries I believe). To become certified you need to pass 2 exams, a basic "core competencies" exam and then 1 of 2 options a "Buying Professional" or "Planning Professional" track. It is a new exam and there is not a lot of "inside" information about it. I'm not posting this to brag, but I'm leaving it open for discussion or PMs for anyone interested in taking it. Last month I passed both the core competencies exam and the Buying Professional exam to earn my certification.
